The IFC is always looking for experienced musicians! 

The IFC follows the British Festival Chorus tradition for rehearsing. Music is distributed at the first rehearsal generally 4-6 weeks before a concert. There will then be one or two scheduled sectional rehearsals and small group rehearsals hosted by members of the chorus at a time convenient to them. Then, the choir enters a week of intensive rehearsals with the orchestra or guest artist(s) immediately before a performance.

The group rehearsal obligations are minimized but individual responsibility for preparation is a required component for a successful audition. This balance between group rehearsals and individual preparation results in a perfect music-making format for busy Shanghai lifestyles. The chorus also serves a social function: members have a great time together, and are known to break into song in obscure places throughout China!

We perform to a very high standard and expect our singers to give maximum commitment to each concert in which they participate. That said, sometimes it is simply not possible to commit to every performance. Members, however, are not required to re-audition if they are unable to join us for one concert.
